Did you know?: You may spot a handful of large concrete blocks from the trail. These served as anchors for two of six 400-foot towers constructed in Chatham in 1914 supporting a trans-Atlantic wireless receiving antenna. The system was designed by famed inventor Guglielmo Marconi. Five of the six towers were removed in 1919; the sixth would eventually be removed in 1956.
